- This Old World Opportunistic Burrower is from Yemen (Socotra Island).
- Also known as the Blue Baboon.
- Adult size is 4" - 5".
- For an Old World species, they are considered a good "starter Old World", as they are much more likely to run and hide than they are to stand their ground. One exception to this rule, of course, is a mother with an egg sack!
- EXTREMELEY communal species.
- One interesting fact is that mothers are known to bring food back to the burrow for her slings - I don't think I've ever heard of any other species exhibiting this behavior.
- Monocentropus balfouri was named after Sir Bayley Balfour, a collector of the Monocentropus genus.
