- Also known as the Blue Scorpion.
- This New World scorpion is from the Caribbean (Cuba and Haiti) and South-America (Venezuela). It is thought that some of the first descriptions (in the early 1800's in Northern Africa) were specimens that "hitched a ride" from the New World.
- The adult length is 2.25" - 4".
- The body is yellowish brown, pink, or orange, with a red or purple tail, limbs are darker, burgundy, purple or blackish.
- Produces a strongly audible stridulatory sound when startled. Cannibalistic.
