- This New World arboreal scorpion is found in Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Nicaragua.
- This is a large species that can reach 110 mm (4.33").
- This species is common in the forest leaf litter, where it can be found among the vegetation. In nighttime, the scorpions hide under the bark of trees, and in cracks and crevices of trees, plants etc. Members of this species have also been found in houses and other buildings. The scorpion has been found from seal level to 1400 meters.
- This species is a polymorphic species, that displays a range of colors.
- We've found two different pectine counts: ♂ 19 - 27; ♀ 18 - 26 and ♂ 25; ♀ 22 - 23.
- The specific name, limbatus , is from the Latin meaning "black-edged" and refers to the coloration of the scorpion.
