- Also known as Giant Hairy Scorpion, and Giant Hairy Desert Scorpion.
- This New World Scorpion can be found in Mexico and the USA (Arizona, Southern parts of California, Nevada and Utah).
- In the wild, this species is found in in semi-arid and arid habitats (also in desert-like habitats, but rarely on sand dunes). They usually hide in deep burrows, but can also be found under stones, logs etc.
- They can grow as large as 5.5" in total length.
- The back of the body has a brown-yellow color, while the pedipalps, legs, cauda and the front part of the prosoma are yellow. It has a lot of brown hairs on parts of its body. These hairs have sensory functions.
- We have found two different pectine counts: ♂ 29 - 41; ♀ 25 - 34 and ♂ 32 - 37; ♀ 24 - 31.
