- Adult size is 11" - The legs of the matured T. apophysis are more slender than the T. blondi and T. stirmi.
- This Theraphosa is more skittish and "secluded" than the T. blondi and T. stirmi.
- As spiderlings, the tarsus and metatarsus are pink on all legs, but after it reaches about five inches the pink disappears. On the T. stirmi only the front four legs are pink (tarsus, metatarsus).
