- Also known as the Mottled Scorpion.
- This Old World scorpion is widespread in the Palaearctic Region; it ranges from central Anatolia through Caucasus and Turkestan to China; it is also found in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey.
- In the wild, most of them were taken under stones in daytime, and others were found at night using the UV lamp.
- The adult length is 1.6" - 2.0".
- Pectine count is ♂ 22 - 28; ♀ 16 - 23.
- It is thought to be the most widely dispersed species of the Mesobuthus genus, perhaps even of the family Buthidae.
