- This Old World scorpion is from Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guina-Bissau, Nigeria, Togo).
- In the wild, they live in empty or self-made burrows up to 30 cm in length. In captivity, we've found that they're quite happy with some bark or cork wood to hide under.
- The average length is 6" - 7.75", but they CAN get above 8".
- Note that they have very strong pedipalps, which can give very painful pinches. Will rarely sting, but young individuals and females with scorplings can be more prone to stinging.
- The overall color is usually glossy black, but some may be dark brown and may even occasionally have a greenish tint.
- Easy to keep in captivity and captive breeding is possible. Good survival rate for scorplings if kept properly.
