- This New World Terrestrial is from northern Brazil near Rio Branco.
- As adults, they reach a huge 8" leg span with bulky body.
- This is a bold tarantula, but not aggressive as an adult. It may use a defensive pose, but would rather retreat than stand and fight.
- The carapace in front is bordered with pale-pink setae; dorsal side of chelicerae, palps and legs with bright reddish-brown setae. Legs with patches of creamy-pink setae on tip of patella, tibia and metatarsus. Abdomen dark, coffee-brown on dorsal side, with long reddish-brown setae, and ventral side dark brown. Some males lack vertical leg stripes.
- Throughout the late 1990's, the Brazilian Whiteknee Tarantula was the most desired tarantula species and was in high demand. This tarantula is still a desired species due to it's combination of size, and beauty.
