- Also known as Costa Rican Brown, Costa Rican Curly Hair, Costa Rican Woolly, Honduras Woolly, Orange Hair Woolly, Curlyhair. Recently renamed from Brachypelma albopilosum.
- This New World Opportunistic Burrower is from Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
- The adult size is 5" - 6".
- Usually very docile and slow-moving, but may suddenly get nervous and try to "hop" or run.
- They have fat rumps and are covered with dark brown to black fur. Longer golden hairs sprout forth all over, particularly on the hind legs, and give them a very fuzzy appearance. The carapace is dark and embossed with a thin sheen of golden hair.
- A good beginner's T. Can be found in burrows usually in tropical forested regions. Settles well in captivity and rarely hides itself away. They are a great first tarantula as they are very easy to keep and grow faster than other Brachypelma/Tliltocatl and are easier to breed.
