- This New World burrower is from the rain forests of Colombia & Brazil.
- Their adult size is 7" - 8.5".
- They have a unique manner of self defense. It's rear legs are armored with large sharp spines which adult specimens can fight off small predators with. When disturbed the spider flicks urticating setae off its abdomen and also extends all legs and rapidly spins it's entire body to try to hit the enemy with its hind legs.
- It is a huge, heavily bodied, long legged tarantula, colored with dense bright orange setae on the abdomen and legs with a dark carapace and femurs.
- In our experience, they like to burrow on the WETTEST and COLDEST side of their enclosures - just a little strange for a New World burrower!
