- A stunning species as adults being overall brown/black with orange/red coloring to the patella of the legs. The black abdomen is clothed with red hairs and the carapace and has a velvet-like appearance (some specimens show color variation and some are more brightly colored than others).
- They are a high-altitude species that ranges all along Costa Rica's central mountains at cool elevations of over 4000'.
- Because of the fact that they are a high-altitude species, they should be kept at room temperatures (62-70 degrees) and their humidity requirements are 70%-85%.
