- This New World scorpion, which was newly described in 2009, in found in the United States (high elevations in the Santa Catalina Mountains of southern Arizona).
- This species was named in honor of Melinda DeBoer-Ayrey, for collecting the specimens.
- The normal adult size is just slightly over 1" (1.25").
- Color is light yellowish brown scorpion with some darker mottling on the carapace and tergites. Pedipalps, legs and metasoma are lighter yellowish brown.
