- Also known as Dune Scorpion and California Dune Scorpion.
- This New World species is from the United States (Arizona and California) and in Mexico (Sonora & Baja California Norte).
- The adult size reaches 3" - 4.5" in length.
- They are NOT communal - they will be very aggressive to other scorpions. They do burrow, but the are very active at night. We've noticed that some like to burrow, and some like to climb the leaves in their enclosures.
- In the wild they live in the open desert or dune habitats, and they spend much of their time in burrows dug in the sand and sediment.
- I've read two different Pectine counts: ♂ 28-40 and ♀ 20-29, or ♂32 - 39 and ♀ 23-25.
