- This New World species is from the United States (New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California) and northern Mexico.
- Adult size is 1" maximum.
- "Superstitionia" is named for the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, where the first specimens were collected by Herbert Stahnke (at "Don's Camp" as told by Herbert Stahnke to Kari McWest).
- Superstitionia donensis is the only species in the genus Superstitionia. They are from the Superstitioniidae family, and an interesting fact is that all of the other members of this family are cave dwellers and lack median and/or lateral eyes.
- This species lacks pigmentation in the integument (which is an adaptation for living in caves). Note the "shiny" appearance.
- We keep them with a scrape available, as they are found under logs and rocks in the wild.
