- Amanda has a soft spot for this species, as one of her first pet tarantulas was a Brazilian Black. Her son named him "Noble 6", and that's him in the last two pictures. Unfortunately, he hooked out as a male and we moved him on to another breeder so he could fulfill his manly duty ...
- This New World Terrestrial species is from the grassland areas of Brazil and Uruguay.
- They are also known as the Chile Black, Uruguay Black, and Rio Grande do Sul Black.
- Their adult size is usually around 6.5".
- This is a slow-growing, long-lived tarantula that you may have as a pet for up to 30 years (if it's a female)!
- They are known to go on fasts lasting several months. It is a very docile tarantula, a very hardy species and does not require any special attention; thus making an ideal species for the novice. It is a very good display species and spends a lot of time out in the open and they love to "bulldoze" the substrate around the enclosure.
