- Also known as Giant White Knee, Santarem Pink Haired Birdeater, White Banded, White Knee, Giant White Knee, Giant Brazilian White Knee Birdeater
- This New World Terrestrial tarantula is from Northern Brazil near Rio Branco/Santarem.
- It can grow quickly to a huge 8" leg span with bulky body.
- They are semi-defensive and nervous. This tarantula is still a desired species due to it's combination of size, and beauty. They are fairly hardy in captivity and are able to withstand lower humidity than most other South American species.
- In the wild, females and juveniles dwell in tubular burrows, located under rocks, fallen trunks, inside living trees and in ravines and on the ground level.
- Very good display species. They can kick hair, but only if harassed.
